Jake Leg were formed as a 4-piece in the summer of 2005 in Thessaloniki, Greece. From the beginning they started working on original material. In 2006 they recorded a demo CD of their early work. They produced and mixed the cd themselves in the band’s home-studio (a.k.a. ‘The Basement’) . It received several positive reviews from music magazines and websites.They continued working on original songs forming their own distinct sound: a mixture of alternative/indie rock with bluesy pop melodies and some rocking moments. Having enough material they recorded several songs in the RunDevilRun Studios in Thessaloniki between July-September 2008. The recordings were produced by Nikodimos Triaridis. Part of these recordings are featured on Jake Leg’s debut album.In 2011 they recorded and produced an EP entitled “The Basement Sessions”. It contains some of their most experimental arrangements, as well as old tunes that have been reworked. You can download it for free here.
In late 2011 – early 2012 they recorded the rest of the songs of their debut album. Sessions took place in the Electroacoustics Lab of Aristoteleion University. Production and mastering were handled by Thanos S. and Demetris Christodoulides. The album was released on November of 2012 and is available on CD Baby (both as digital download and as physical disc) and most digital music stores.
As far as live shows go, Jake Leg are best described as ‘live show commandos’ playing anywhere and anytime, from small town gigs in the mostodd places to large-audience venues with thousands of people. They also get frequent airplay from local radio station also receive frequent airplay from local and national radio stations.
